About Mosaica Trio
The Mosaica Trio was formed in 2022 through the New York Youth Symphony Chamber Music Program, a tuition-free music organization for youth in New York City, and widely reputed to be one of the best of its kind in the nation and world. The Trio has performed in leading concert stages including Carnegie Hall and the DiMenna Center for Classical Music. Violinist Amie Shen, Cellist Sophia Jenkins, and Pianist Ryan Lu bring passion and focus to works of baroque, classical, romantic, and modern composers. Mosaica has received award recognition from the Camerata Artists International Competition and the New York International Classical Music Competition for Ensemble Performance.
United by a shared vision to harness the transformative power of music, we utilize it as a catalyst for bringing healing, hope, and positive change to our community. We believe that music has the extraordinary ability to transcend boundaries and connect people on a profound level, transcending language and cultural barriers. Through our performances, collaborations, and outreach initiatives, we aim to inspire and uplift individuals, fostering a sense of unity, empathy, and wellbeing.

Amie Shen
Amie Shen, 14, attends the Spence School in New York City and studies violin at The Juilliard School Pre-college division, under the tutelage of Dr. Ann Setzer.
Amie has won many top awards as a soloist, including the VIVO International Music Competition, the Suzanne Culley Competition, the International Grande Music Competition, the Camerata Artists International Concerto Competition, PIMF Concerto Competition, Queensboro Symphony Orchestra International Competition, and the International Virtuoso Competition. She made her orchestra debut at age 10 as the Grand prize winner of the Concert Festival Concerto Competition. Amie has been an Adelphi Young Artist Competition finalist and also selected as a finalist for NPR's From The Top.
She has performed in many prestigious venues, such as Stern Auditorium and Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Merkin Concert Hall at the Kaufman Music Center, Bruno Walter Auditorium at Lincoln Center, Koussevitzky Music Shed and Seiji Ozawa hall at Tanglewood.
Amie is a member of the highly recognized New York Youth Symphony Orchestra. During the 2022-23 season, they won the Grammy Award for Best Orchestral Performance at the 65th Annual Grammy Award.
During summer, Amie attended numerous music festivals and workshops. She is a merit scholarship recipient of BUTI(Boston University Tanglewood Institute) 2020 Junior String Intense and HeifetzPEG 2021 (Heifetz Institute's Program for the Exceptionally Gifted). Amie attended BUTI(Boston University Tanglewood Institute) Violin workshop and Young Artist Orchestra 2023 on a full merit-based scholarship and appointed as principal violinist.
Amie believes her power of music to uplift others and bring about positive change. With a strong desire to make a difference in her community, Amie actively engages in various community service initiatives. Whether it's organizing benefit concerts for local charities or volunteering her musical skills at senior homes, she uses her musical talents to spread joy, healing, and hope.
Ryan Lu
Ryan Lu, 14, is a rising freshman at Trinity School in New York City. He started playing piano at age 5 and currently studies with Stella Xu. He is a Young Scholar of the Lang Lang International Music Foundation and has been selected as a finalist of NPR's From the Top.
He has won numerous piano competitions including Grand Prix of XIII Chopin International Piano Competition Hartford, CT, National Finalist/Eastern Winner and New Jersey State winner of 2022 MTNA Junior Performance Competition, Eastern Finalist and New Jersey State winner of 2021 MTNA Junior Performance Competition, first place winner of NJMTA Young Musicians Piano Competition for six consecutive years (2017-2022), first place winner of the 2020 Steinway Tristate (NY, NJ, CT) Piano Competition and 2019 Steinway Junior Piano Competition, the Gold Prize of 2020 VIVO International Piano Competition and Judge's Favorite Award of 2021 VIVO International Piano Competition, first place awards in the NJMEA Piano Competition (2018,2019,2021); second place in the 2021 Chicago International Music Competition (Professional Category) and 2021 ENKOR International Music Competition and third place in the 2022 Lyra Music Competition.
Ryan has attended numerous music festivals including the prestigious Oberlin Piano Festival. He was recently invited to participate in the 2023 Cleveland Piano Institute Summer Program and the Frost Chopin Festival on a full merit-based scholarship.
Ryan believes that music has a power to connect people from different ethnic backgrounds and harmonize the world. He is actively involved in community outreach. He was invited to perform in the National Arts Club in NYC to celebrate 'Global Diversity' in music, Lang Lang and Friends Biennial Gala Dinner Concert, and many others. He is also a regional director of 'Back to Bach' Project which is a nationwide organization that brings music education to underserved children.
Sophia Jenkins
Sophia Jenkins, 13, studies cello at the the Juilliard School Pre-college division with Amy Barston.
Making her Carnegie Hall solo debut at age 11, she is a 1st Place Winner of the VIVO International Music Competition, the New York Young Virtuoso Competition, the Charleston International Music Competition, and the Crescendo International Music Competition. She has received awards from the North International Music Competition, the NLPA International Young Artist Competition, the Camerata Artists International Concerto Competition, the International Grande Music Competition, the American Protege International Concerto Competition, and the Bellegrande International Music Competition.
Sophia has played with the New York Youth Symphony Chamber Music Program, the New Jersey Youth Symphony, and the Chamber Music Center of New York. Her summer festival experience includes the Heifetz Program for the Exceptionally Gifted (PEG), the Bowdoin International Music Festival, and the Greenwood Music Camp.
Passionate for community engagement and sharing her love of cello with a wide audience, Sophia is a member of the Back to Bach project, a nationwide student-led organization that brings arts education to children through free in-person concerts and community engagement events. She is also a member of Together In Harmony, a team of young musicians that brings the soothing power of music virtually for elderly patients in care centers.
Sophia Jenkins has performed in master classes for Astrid Schween, Hans Jorgen Jensen, and Brannon Cho. She plays a French cello by Charles Buthod from the 1880s.
